A couple of weeks back we did a lesson where we learnt to make stencils. Ever since then I've wanted to do a full blown piece where I could expand on what I did in my sketch book. I originally went with the theme 'Inspire' so the first thing I thought of was to do a lightbulb.

Check out my other blog post to see what I originally did in my sketchbook on this theme: https://shanemphoto.wixsite.com/mysite/blog/forever-manchester

Anyway to expand on it I took to my sketchbook again and used letter stencils and some paints and I was going to write the first thing that took to my head. "STAY INSPIRED" It was perfect, I then wasted no time and went straight to an A3 piece of paper. I took up a giant piece of brown paper, ripped off lots of pieces and then crumpled them up to add even more texture. I then glued all the brown paper on randomly and cut out the A3 shape so it was perfectly a rectangle.

Firstly I went to the photocopier with my original lightbulb stencil in hand and blown it up to various bigger sizes. I did multiples of each so I could get positives and negatives of each and cut them all out.

Next I used blue paint and bubble wrap and dipped the wrap into it and splurged it all around the paper. For me this looked like the sky, I then took my various stencils and used firstly white, red then yellow paint to stamp them onto the page. It looks like balloons.. I just had to add "Stay Inspired" and it was finished.

I really like how it turned out and I really want to expand it again some how in the future, I would like to clean it up a bit and make it neater although I like the scrappy look of it and thats what I was going for.
