Due to illness I missed a class where everybody (as far as I'm aware) went around the college campus sketching the space, taking photographs, collecting leafs/twigs and getting a rubbing of different textures. As I said I wasn't in and I'm probably mis-interpreting the entire brief, but it seemed like good practise in general for when we're next out on location. I asked one of my class mates to give me an idea of what they did and he showed me a piece of the work he did so I had a bit of inspiration.
Unfortunately due to me working I didn't get a chance to go somewhere completely alien to me to collect this data so instead I did it in my back garden, but I decided to add a twist! I did it in the dark with my head lamp on so I could get a different perspective of the space.
I went outside and started off by sketching the front part of the garden which is the yard area for the dogs. I then went onto the garden part and collected leafs and other materials and sketched the different highlights of that area such as the trees. During all of this I also collected rubbings of different texture using crayons and post it notes. I'll include pictures down below from my sketchbook.
