Potato Printing

I was tasked with drawing out my initials and then cutting them onto a potato, putting paint on it then using it as a stamp to print it.

I wanted to use the Grim Fest theme so I made the "S" a snake and the "M" a spider! It was quite difficult to carve out the potato and I ended up giving up and trying the sweet potato instead. This went significantly better as the sweet potato is a lot dryer.

I also made the mistake of not reversing my image before starting to cut it, this was easily fixed though.

I also tried my hand at wax resisting, so basically I put my initials in wax crayon then painted over it so it would stand out. The first time I tried this, the paint was to thick and just went over it. I then watered down the paint and tried it again with a darker colour crayon and the effect was a lot more prominent.

I did some stencil work as well with my initials. I just found different type faces and used different materials to stencil it on.
