Wythenshawe Town Centre was having a Christmas lights switch on concert and because I work on the centre I had an in to do their photography for the event. I spoke to the security and they said I'd be able to take photographs in return for copies of the pictures. I got all my equipment ready (DSLR, standard lens + zoom and my tripod) as well as got some tips from my tutor (thanks Heath) and went to the event.
On the actual day I was in Northwich all day with my dad taking pictures and we had to rush back for the concert. Finally I got back, signed in with security and was told I could go anywhere. Considering I've never done any photography like this I was very eager to get in front of the stage, up close and personal. I started by doing a walk of the centre and looking for good shots as well as going to the top of the multi-story car park, got out my camera and took a couple of test shots. (these ended up being my only shots of the night)
I then went down to the stage and spoke to the security again, unfortunately due to lack of communication they wouldn't let me in. I tried speaking to the event manager and still couldn't get close to the stage. The best deal she could give me was to push my way to the front of the crowd when it started and get pictures from there.
Basically they wanted me to email them pictures of the event in return for me getting experience. This would of been a pretty fair deal, besides the fact that I was only allowed to take pictures from the areas where I'm allowed to take pictures from anyway.. Needless to say I didn't want to wait several hours for the show that I couldn't get any unique pictures of. I was instantly uninterested and wen't straight home.
Also the test shots I took on the multi-story wasn't the best quality, because I was only up there for a few minutes and didn't properly sort my settings. I've picked the best one and corrected it as best I could in Lightroom.

Honestly I'm really disappointed. I was looking forward to testing my abilities and trying something new, but it just really wasn't worth it.
