Mood Boards

I was given a hand out with lots of different words on it and was tasked to firstly pick out two opposing words and make a mood board out of them. This process consisted of making a mind map of what these words leaned to me. I decided to pick Anxiety and Hope, my idea behind this was that Anxiety can be a very deep void where you can be entrapped, where as Hope is the opposite. You would be reaching for the stars or be re birthed.

Following this idea I wanted to incorporate the idea of spring and nature into the Hope side of it and I wanted the Anxiety side to be very dark and moody. Going into actually doing the mood boards I wanted to try different techniques such as pencils, crayons paints, pens as well as images from magazines.

Hope

Like I mentioned I wanted to make it very in touch with nature, such as the flowers and mountains. I also wanted to make it very bright and vibrant, it was going to be simplistic although I went overboard and I made it feel very busy without realising.

Anxiety

Now with this one I wanted to make it look very busy, yet I feel the other one looks more. I did achieve my idea of it looking busy in terms of the scratching pencils and ripped pages, I wanted to make it feel very uneasy and hard to look at. I also wanted to look sad as anxiety and depression goes hand in hand.

When showing my work to the group they pretty much hit the nail on the head in terms of the Anxiety piece, they felt like it portrayed a sad, depressing, anxious vibe that looked bold. The Hope piece was described as colourful and vibrant, some mistook it for happy although a few people noticed it as Hope.

Like I said I feel like the hope one is to busy and if I was to redo this practise again I'd stick to my original concepts as I feel like I rushed it trying to fill the page.
