I've been briefed to do a re-branding for Peer Ambassadors who are apart of the organisation 42nd Street, they are a Manchester based charity that works in mental health in young people between 11-25.
Part of the brief has me testing options for a new logo, designs for posters/leaflets/and or booklets in print form to take more information out into the community, and to make digital e-flyers for social networking.
42nd Street
As I said 42nd street is a Manchester based charity established in 1980 that specialises in mental health within young people, providing counselling and improve well being for young people aged 11-25. The service they provide is free and confidential while helping with depression, anxiety as well as helping to develop skills and be creative.
Q42 are creating a podcast that consists of different formats from 5 to 30 minutes, these will feature topics ranging from personal to social issues. The Peer Ambassadors programme consists of role models that inspire and help to understand the experience young people are dealing with. On the website they quoted themselves as “By listening to others and through our own personal experience we can advocate and campaign for and with young people. We are all different- we are unique, honest, trustworthy, real, inspiring, fabulous and nerdy!"
Sketchbook Work
I've done the research for this brief in my sketchbook, mostly in mind maps. I prefer using this method as I can just get everything out on the page in scribbles. It looks like a mess, but it all makes sense. (Press the arrows on the right and left to scroll through sketchbook!)
As I said it's a lot of rambling in mind maps, but it work for me. After looking into 42nd Street, I started looking more into Peer Ambassadors. I found their current logo and found what was wrong with it. To me its boring, the type face is basic and I figured they would stand for something more vibrant. I also wrote down some words that I figured would apply to them like: Peer, Role Model, Mentor and Support so I could create a mood board of logo-esq images to give me some ideas.
I then looked into the more social media and young people side of things for the branding. From what I could find, young people in 2018 spend a lot of time on social media platforms such as Instagram. I looked into the kind of music the kids listen to these days and emo rap has really gotten big recently. It's as if its cool so be depressed in this day an age.
